To provide education which increases public awareness of the link between clean drinking water, safe recreational waters, environmentally sustainable surface and groundwater with watershed based, best management practices related to appropriate wastewater systems, technology, treatment and management.

Although we are now a national organization, Western Michigan, which is where our home office is located, is a spectacularly beautiful place to live, work or visit.

Like many locations throughout the Great Lakes States, Michigan relies heavily on the income and economic impact of tourism and recreation. The Board's intent each year is to generate operating support funds but also support our local economy.

It should come as no surprise that Michiganders are dedicated to being excellent stewards of our environmental treasures and precious water resources. The delicate balancing act of providing jobs and a decent standard of living year round is something our organization would like to highlight.

As no Non Profit can totally rely on donations or grants, each year we will offer a spectacular Raffle which generates a reliable source of operating income for us, while at the same time drawing attention to recreation entities which couldn't exist without exemplary wastewater systems - decentralized wastewater systems which provide excellent protection for both the environment and public health.

There are many misconceptions about the efficacy and performance of advanced decentralized wastewater systems - the truth is they are required to meet the same standards of commercial performance as a municipal central sewer. They are required to meet the same rigorous water quality testing. The advantage is that treated waters, often treated to almost potable standards, can then be returned to, and hence replenish, the source waters from whence they came.

As we continue to see unprecedented drought conditions, not just here but throughout the United States, if we are to cherish and replenish our water resources, this becomes even more important.

WasteWater Education is deeply appreciative for the support of the following entities who have donated the 2014 amazing Raffle Prizes - all centered around our water theme! And only 1000, $10 tickets have been printed!
